Our story
Our History

INDIES is, above all, a high-end women's ready-to-wear group, based in Provence, creating and distributing its own collections for over 50 years.
The history of the house
1970
The beginnings
The Indies group was founded in 1970 by Jean-Jacques Garella, a women's ready-to-wear retailer, who chose to launch his own collections under the name JJ Garella.
1972
The first successes
The success of the collections allowed the opening of boutiques dedicated to the brand from 1972, then the development of its distribution through a network of multi-brand retailers.
1993
The birth of a group
The INDIES brand was founded in 1993 by Marion Lesage, daughter of the famous embroiderer Lesage (Chanel's embroiderer). In its early days, the brand offered an ethnically inspired wardrobe steeped in travel. The Garella Group also acquired the Bleu Blanc Rouge brand, which complemented the latter's high-end ready-to-wear offering. The BLEU BLANC ROUGE design office remains in Nice.
2008
Development
The group is accelerating its development by opening its own stores under the INDIES brand and through a franchise system.
2013
Launch of the website
The indies.fr website was launched, offering our customers omnichannel access. The group also has an international presence in more than 25 countries.
2022
A new breath of life
Anne de Gravelaine and her husband Philippe Rigal bought this beautiful French house with the aim of giving it new momentum while capitalizing on its many existing strengths.
INDIES | Femininity in motion
A fluid, assertive look, designed to accompany every moment of everyday life.
Born in 1993 from the creative impulse of Marion Lesage, daughter of the famous Chanel embroiderer, INDIES established itself from the very beginning as a unique brand. Inspired by distant cultures, travel, and a hedonistic aesthetic, it creates a wardrobe imbued with escapism. But it's by returning to the root of its name—In Dies, “day by day” in Latin—that INDIES reveals its true essence.
More than a brand, INDIES becomes a manifesto of femininity in motion. Its vision: to accompany women in every moment of their daily lives, with fluid and assured elegance. A look that lives, evolves, and adapts—day after day.

BBR | The elegance of gesture
A fashion house where each creation celebrates precision, femininity and French know-how.
BBR was founded in 1977 on the luminous shores of the French Riviera, in Nice. Behind this fashion house are Catherine Camhi and Dominique Wack, two sisters united by a shared passion for art and interior design. Guided by their aesthetic vision and attention to detail, they create a feminine wardrobe that is unique, refined, and deeply rooted in the French art of living.
BBR celebrates elegance in all its forms, through a fashion of conviction, transmission, and creation. Designed for demanding, daring women who cherish expertise and true elegance, the collections are designed, patterned, and crafted in our workshop in the south of France. Each model embodies the excellence of French craftsmanship: noble fabrics, precise cuts, perfect drape—nothing is left to chance.
For over 50 years, the group has perpetuated its passion for fashion with its design workshop located within its headquarters near Aix-en-Provence.
Short-circuit production
At INDIES, we love stories that last, and so we carefully select the suppliers we work with. This rigorous and careful selection is based on local tradition or expertise, essential to the desirability and durability of our pieces.
We are committed to creating close, trusting relationships with our partner workshops in order to foster fluid exchanges that allow us to jointly reflect on the continuous improvement of our practices.
The production of our collections is carried out mainly in Europe and in the Mediterranean basin (Bulgaria, France, Italy, Portugal, Tunisia, etc.) depending on the technicality of the product and the know-how of the workshops with which we work.

Our commitments
Offering responsible and environmentally friendly fashion is not always easy, but we have made it one of the major foundations of our strategy since the 1990s.
From ethics to environmental impact, we are aware that we are part of a polluting industry and lifestyle. That's why, for several years now, we have been committed to evolving our collections to bring you ever more sustainable, chic, and comfortable fashion.
x The origin of the fabric : a fabric sourced as close as possible is one that has not traveled thousands of kilometers and which ensures impeccable quality. They can come from France or Italy.
x Fabric certification : Most of our fabrics are natural and/or recycled fibers, woven and printed in France or Italy. All our prints are unique creations and imagined in our workshop in Aix-en-Provence. We tend to use more and more materials labeled OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, guaranteeing that the fabrics are free from toxic chemicals and we do our best to ensure that most of our materials are. Our organic cotton is labeled GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), a label which requires that more than 95% of the fiber comes from organic farming while imposing limited production adapted to demand.
x The origin of the yarn : it can be of biological origin or made from recycled materials.
x Road transport rather than air transport : for the delivery of our collections, we always favor road transport over air transport. It's slower, but above all, it's much less polluting.
x Shops : Our shops operate with LED lighting and we have installed a timer in the windows allowing them to be switched off at night, while we gradually transfer our contracts to green electricity suppliers.
x Website : In order to make our online purchases more sustainable, we have chosen to ensure the transport of our parcels with the La Poste group. By opting for Colissimo, INDIES chooses a responsible delivery partner,
Europe's leading player in voluntary carbon offsetting, committed to reducing its ecological footprint by targeting three objectives: measuring and reducing CO2 emissions, particularly by optimizing deliveries, and offsetting residual emissions by supporting projects in France and around the world.
In 2022, Indies obtains the Colissimo carbon neutrality certificate
which certifies that 100% of the parcel services entrusted to La Poste Colissimo have benefited from carbon neutrality. This represents 13 tonnes of CO2 equivalent offset in 2022.
x Logistics : All our packages are shipped in 70% recycled cardboard packaging. We have also introduced a more environmentally friendly shipping solution with Hipli: a pouch that can be reused up to 100 times,
which has less ecological impact than cardboard after its second use,
and which, above all, generates around 25 kg less waste.
Our commitments go beyond creating collections. Convinced that fashion can be a vehicle for solidarity, we collaborate with associations that share our values to achieve a positive impact: supporting social initiatives (such as the fight against breast cancer with the Resource Center) or the professional reintegration of women with Reflet 31. We also contribute to the training of future talents in French design with FASK. Through these actions, we give greater meaning to our commitment by transforming lives.
